Homewave Solutions recently completed a control room upgrade for the Maasai Mara Conservancy, delivering a modern, fully integrated communications hub to improve ranger coordination and real-time response.
The project involved replacing outdated systems with advanced Hytera Smart Dispatch software, MD785i base radios, and digital repeaters configured for synchronized two-way communication across all field units. The installation supports voice dispatching, GPS tracking, call recording, and instant messaging, ensuring continuous visibility of ranger movement and fast emergency coordination.
The control room design also focused on functionality and efficiency — new computers, structured cabling, and ergonomic desk layouts were implemented to improve operator workflow. The desktop radio units were neatly mounted and linked to the dispatch console, allowing simultaneous communication on multiple channels.
To address power interruptions, Homewave installed a hybrid solar backup system with intelligent power routing. This setup guarantees uninterrupted operation, even in remote conditions. The new environment now operates with improved clarity, reduced downtime, and a far more organized system layout.
These upgrades have enabled the Maasai Mara control center to serve as a reliable command point, capable of monitoring ranger operations, coordinating patrols, and maintaining constant contact across the conservancy.
